A Harry Potter-themed school known as Spellcaster’s Academy is under investigation in Indiana, for possible problems related to rules and where it’s located. A book series by J.K. Rowling turned into a successful eight-blockbuster movie series, including plays, video games and theme parks.
The city of Westfield is been checking out the Harry Potter school, which is also served by Airbnb. Exactly is not known what they’re investigating, but there’s no proof in the city records that the school was given permission to be there. It’s also not clear that Spellcaster’s Academy got permission from Warner Bros., which owns the right of the Harry Potter franchise, to use Hogwarts and other trademarks. Indystar tried to get in touch with J.K. Rowling, the author of Harry Potter, but she directed them to Warner Bros., who hasn’t said anything yet.

Spellcaster’s Academy website says they help kids and aim to provide an alternative learning environment for poor kids. It says they’re like Hogwarts, where Harry Potter goes to school. The Spellcaster’s Academy features Gothic-style architecture and Quidditch hoops on the property. However, it’s unclear when the school will open, or if it has hired teachers or has admitted students. The school doesn’t have official approval from the state’s Education Department, but it did get permission to not pay certain taxes from the IRS recently.
There’s also a property of Airbnb in Spellcaster’s Academy where guests can stay for $270 a night, they say the money they make will be used to run the school. The property owner and “headmaster” Chris Wellan says the school will be a mix of a home and a school, like Boy’s and Girl’s club and to help kids in need. We don’t know yet what will happen with the investigation of Westfield’s Harry Potter-themed school.
