The director Christopher Nolan’s movie “Oppenheimer” a successful and dramatic thriller film, has recently reached a big milestone in the United States. Although, Oppenheimer prepares to surpass 2016’s “Sing” which is the highest-grossing domestic film ever. Oppenheimer has already achieved the aim by making over $270 million in its first four weeks of release. You might argue that “Oppenheimer” have not been as successful or even made as much money in the US if it weren’t for the effect of something Barbie that went along with it.
“Sing” was a successful movie when it came to theaters. But it faced two challengers at the same time when it was in theaters. The first challenger was “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story”, which ultimately ended up grossing $534.9 million domestically and surpassed Sing to claim the top place. The second challenger was “Hidden Figure” the sleeper smash about the mathematicians responsible for the first lunar landing and kept “Sing” from being number one again. However, Sing ended up with $634.2 million worldwide, which Oppenheimer will now also beat it.

If Oppenheimer wants to become the highest-earning movie worldwide that never reached the number one spot. To achieve this goal, it needs to make $902 million, which is earned from a Chinese movie called “The Battle at Lake Changjin”. Which took in a few places in the US and Canada. In 2014 Christopher Nolan releases “Interstellar” which is in the top ten list too. Interstellar didn’t become number one because it was up against Disney’s “Big Hero 6” which got more attention.
Oppenheimer’s popularity is gained by large format theaters, which are liked by people watching in IMAX. Fans are so interested in this movie that these special screenings are fully booked for many weeks ahead. It doesn’t matter for Nolan that the movie becomes number one in terms of money earned at the box office, the only thing matters for him as long as his film has been seen by as movie lovers as possible.
